For many years, climate change has not only caused environmental impacts but has also brought about significant economic and social problems. The threat these problems pose to our future has revealed the necessity of combating climate change and implementing structural transformation. In this context, the need to transform “brown” sectors—such as energy production from fossil fuels, heavy industry, mining, and the petrochemical/chemical industry, which contribute to environmental pollution—has come to the forefront. At the same time, new employment opportunities are being created in emerging “green” sectors such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, efficient waste management, and environmental technologies. This structural transformation increases the demand for new green skill sets in the labor market and highlights the importance of the concept of “green employment”. This study aims to examine the impact of green transformation on the labor market—both on a sectoral basis and globally—by addressing the growing importance of green jobs, green skills, and green entrepreneurship that have emerged alongside increased awareness in the fight against climate change.
