Abstract

A series of factors can be said to transform migrants into entrepreneurial subjects. This study aims to identify the advantages and disadvantages of immigrant entrepreneurship based on the factors that push immigrants to entrepreneurship. The focus is on how factors such as the skills migrant entrepreneurs acquire from their home countries, ethnic markets in the destination country, religion and language factors, government policies, changes in global and regional markets, motivation for continuous work, cultural adaptation or assimilation, migrant networks, and isolation or clustering affect migrant entrepreneurship. These factors have been observed to vary both on different migrant groups and over time and space. The heterogeneity of the advantages and disadvantages of migrant entrepreneurship has led different groups of migrant entrepreneurs to develop different strategies. This study also concludes that the globalization and digitalization
of the global economy has led to a shift in migrant entrepreneurship away from the traditional structure.
